The library is holding a silent auction for a Dell desktop computer that is no longer being used. Specifications for the computer are available at the library, and the computer is on display. The auction begins immediately, and will end on December 2 at 5:00 PM.
On Friday, November 21, the library will host a “Wii day” at the library. There is no school on this date, and library patrons are invited to try their hand at “Guitar Hero” and other Wii games. Time limits will be used to ensure everyone has an opportunity to use the equipment.
Santa will make his annual visit to the Vermontville Township Library on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 5:00 PM, for “An Old Fashioned Christmas”. Crafts, recipes, and stories from days gone by will be shared. After the visit with Santa, families are invited to wander upstairs for a holiday film. “A Christmas Story" tells of the epically materialistic journey of Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) as he searches for the golden idol of all red-blooded American boys: A Red Rider Air Rifle. Ralphie spins an intricate web of cunning and deceit as he plots to get his hands on it - including an essay, a trip to Santa Claus and more. The movie also shows us a glimpse of his family - his irritable, foul-mouthed father with a good heart, his whiny brother Randy, and his sweet, all-American mother. It is not so much a continuous story as a series of vignettes, but this classic holiday film is sure to be enjoyed by all. Popcorn and hot cocoa will be available. Moviegoers may bring lawn chairs, bean bags, or pillows to make themselves more comfortable during the movie. |
